Your roofline protects the edges of your roof and channels rainwater away from your property. We install, repair, and replace fascias, soffits, and guttering in durable uPVC or traditional wood. Keep your roofline in top condition with our professional service.

The roofline — the fascias, soffits and guttering running along the edge of your roof — does the unglamorous but vital job of finishing the roof off and getting rainwater away from the walls. The fascia carries the gutter, the soffit boxes in the underside of the overhang, and together they keep weather out of the roof timbers while still letting the roof space breathe. When they fail, the signs are easy to spot: peeling or rotten timber, water running down the wall instead of through the downpipe, overflowing gutters, sagging sections, and green algae staining the render below a leaking joint.
There are two main choices. Traditional timber suits period and listed properties and can be repaired and repainted, but it needs ongoing maintenance and will eventually rot if neglected. Modern uPVC is virtually maintenance-free, will not rot or need painting, and is the practical choice for most homes — and when we replace fascias and soffits we make sure the ventilation behind the soffit is maintained so the roof can still breathe. On the guttering side, getting the falls right so water actually runs to the downpipe matters more than the brand of gutter; a gutter that holds water will always overflow eventually.
| Option | Pros | Cons | Typical lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
| uPVC | Virtually maintenance-free; will not rot; no repainting | Modern look may not suit period homes | 25–35 years |
| Timber | Authentic for period and listed buildings; repairable | Needs regular painting; will rot if neglected | 15–30 years with upkeep |
A full fascia, soffit and guttering replacement on a typical semi-detached house ranges from around £1,500–£3,000 depending on the length of roofline, access and material. Smaller repairs and gutter work cost less. Because much of the cost is access, it often makes sense to do the whole roofline at once rather than in sections. We always provide a free, no-obligation quote before starting.
We recommend gutter cleaning at least once a year, ideally in autumn after leaves have fallen. Properties near trees may need more frequent cleaning.
Fascias are the boards running along the roofline where gutters attach. Soffits are the boards underneath the roof overhang. Both protect your roof structure from weather.
Costs depend on property size and materials. A typical semi-detached house ranges from £1,500-£3,000 for full fascias, soffits, and guttering replacement.
Common causes include blocked gutters, damaged seals at joints, cracks from age or impact, or sagging sections. We repair or replace as needed.
uPVC fascias are virtually maintenance-free, weather-resistant, and long-lasting. Wooden fascias suit period properties but need regular painting. We install both.
